This is Island Soccer 101‘s second season advertising poster. It the first year was a smashing success and the second year is expected to be even better. Island Soccer 101 is run by Eric and Chris Yue, the brother behind the largest hockey league on Vancouver Island.

Soccer Express proposed an online webstore which specialized in selling packages of training equipment for soccer coaches. Since most of the staff and managment are experienced soccer coaches, they felt there was a need for providing intuitive pre-made training packs designed to help teach and coach soccer. The process has stalled, but the idea is still there. This was the concept flyer that I created that they planned to use as marketing.

TeamVision 5th Anniversary Handbill

TeamVision is one of TELUS’ most prominent means of communication with their employees. On the 5th anniversary of their first broadcast, a large promotion and give away was organized across Canada. Part of the festivities was handing out handbills to employeess in the different regions with a secret code to see if they won. I created a unique formula for generating winners, and was able to create a secure site to give you the good (or bad) news.

Island Hockey 101 and Island Recreation 101 is now one of the largest recreational sports organizations on Vancouver Island, so it’s hard to remember back when it was an idea of two brothers that liked sports. There was quite a risk, because, in like the rest of the freezing Canadian cities, a community like Victoria has limited hockey facilities, and none with availability.

Year one, I whipped this up for the Yue brothers so they can start running around parking lots and putting something in windshields, in hopes that there’s enough beer-league hockey players to start something fun. Turns out, there was more than enough!
