Orquidea is a fashion boutique nestled in the trendy Dunderave area of West Vancouver, B.C. Their motto is Modern Fashion…Timeless Style which is the direction given for this website’s design. Or decision was to create something modern and clean that caters to the modern woman. We coordianated with her instore brands such as Blacky Dress, Cheri Milaney, and Sara Pacini, and created a unique gallery of fashion and design that are in season.

This WordPress design mimics many high-end fashion and clothing brands but keeps the user interface easy enough for the Maureen to update her content in the ever changing fashion retail market.

Camp Kintail

Camp Kintail is a Presbyterian summer camp for kids located on the shores of Lake Heron in Ontario, Canada. Summer camps, like so many non-profit organizations, need to attract kids, young leaders, and donations on a limited budget. But one Camp Kintail’s strengths is their highly motivated alumni, and volunteers, not to mention a very-engaged leadership. So the strategy for their website was to create a robust usable website that’s easy to update by the Camp Kintail director (Theresa MacDonald-Lee) and her team.

This is where WordPress really shines. I was able to use the free tools already available on the internet that Camp Kintail was currently using such as Flickr and Blogger. With WordPress’ vast plug-in library, I was able to make it easy for Camp Kintail to make changes and updates to their website without a large learning curve. I think it’s important to not complicate your clients, but make their life easier! Hopefully, as the Camp Kintail website becomes a stronger marketing and communications tool, the value of having a customizable interface, will be an asset to their growth.

Island Hockey 101

Island Hockey 101 is an adult hockey league operating out of Victoria, BC. In 3 short years of existance, IH101 has grown into the largest recreational hockey league on Vancouver Island. Aimed towards beginners and intermediate players, this league promotes safety, and teamwork as the cornerstones of it’s athletes, yet maintaining the competitiveness of hockey. One of the most important characteristics of Island Hockey 101 is that players are all treated like hockey stars which means indepth, up-to-date stats, various all-star games, and unique prizes.

One of the challenges of this site is to make information accessable, and clear. One of my great pride is the original Island Hockey 101 site was immediate a success and players felt their website was better than any other league. So the quest was to maintain that level of excellence during the re-code of the backend.

Riese The Series

Riese the Series is an steampunk inspired webisode shot using the Red Camera. The vision for this project is to create a website attracted fanboys (and fangirls) to watch episodes, engage in the community, and emerse themselves in the Riese world. Promotions for the Riese the Series website was coordianated through Social Media outlets such as Facebook, and Twitter.

SixSix8 teamed with Novel Media and create a strategy and design for the Riese team to help them make their ideas for the film to come alive. The project was divided into 1 phases. The first was a place holder website made to direct the potential fans to a facebook site. The second phase was a wordpress design created to receive traffic from an aggressive marketing campaign at Comic-Con 2009. Our intention is to properly direct users to different engagement tools (forums, blogs, facebook, twitter, etc.)

The final phase will be the final resting place for the video series. Each of the 10 episodes will be released on a schedule, and the users will be able to watch, comment and participate in the adventures of Riese and her ever evolving world of Elysia.

UPDATE: Episode 1 “The Hunt” released on November 5.

Grandview Golf Course

Grandview Golf Course is located in Custer, WA, just south of the US/Canada border. One of the great things about being so close to the border, is that appeal for Canadians to jump across the border and play a good round of golf without breaking their bank accounts. The great challenge though is telling the Canadians! Grandview seems to be a great little secret around Vancouver, but being a secret is no good for business.

Designing a golf course website is rewarding, and working with this client was easy and accomidating, on both sides. I was able to help him create a unique, visually appealing website with marketing hooks to help to highlight promotions to both American and Canadian visitors. Once the website was in place, a marketing campaign was created to help drive users to the website and hopefully drive them down to play at Grandview.

Camp Columbia

Camp Columbia is a Christian summer camp for children located on Thetis Island, BC, just off Vancouver Island. Each summer, Camp Columbia welcomes hundreds of all ages kids to their action-packed camps and leaves them with an experience of a lifetime. During the off-season, the camp’s facilities are rented to youth groups, company outings, and school outdoor programs.

Both the summer and offseason programs were equally important, and both needed an unique design to cater to interested adult groups and inquiring parents and kids.

TELUS Teambook 2007

TELUS Teambook was conceived as a means to promote a corporate social responsiblity, particularly the TELUS Day of Service which happened on September 29, 2007.

The direction was to make a website with allows the user to ‘explore’ the various regions and ‘experience’ the affect that event had on the regions. I decided to create a horizontal website; mostly because the “storybook” suggestion which never translates well on a webpage. Though horizontal websites have great challenges, the result was a unique website with various content including quotes, kudos, photos, videos and logos.
